Old No. 77 x Where Y'art Works

Art has been part of The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery’s identity for more than a decade. Through its longstanding partnership with Where Y’Art Works, the hotel has created an ongoing platform for local artists, bringing their work into the spaces guests experience throughout their stay.

What began with curated displays in The Chandlery has grown into a true creative partnership, with more than 30 gallery shows, 500+ local artists featured, collaborative programming and thousands of locals and visitors welcomed through the doors. The result is an art program that feels distinctly connected to New Orleans — shaped by the people, perspectives and creative energy of the city itself.

From rotating exhibitions in The Chandlery to original work throughout the hotel and dedicated Artist Loft Suites, the partnership continues to create new ways for guests to experience New Orleans through the artists who call it home.

Inside the Artist Loft Suites

First introduced in 2017, the Artist Loft Suites were created to give guests a deeper connection to New Orleans through the perspective of its artists. Each of the three suites features the work of a different local artist, transforming the room into a more immersive expression of the city’s creative spirit.

The current Artist Loft Suites feature Harriet Blum, Katie Kut and Roz LeCompte, with each artist bringing a distinct style and point of view to the space. Their work is also displayed in The Chandlery and available for purchase through Where Y’Art Works

Suite 225 | Harriet Blum

Photographer Harriet Blum is known for her hand-tinted black-and-white infrared photography, a distinctive technique she began developing after moving to New Orleans. Often centered on trees and landscapes, her work has a dreamy, ethereal quality that brings a sense of quiet and reflection to the suite. Her photography can be found in private and commercial collections across the U.S. and internationally.

Suite 425 | Roz LeCompte

Roz LeCompte’s work is bold, colorful and deeply influenced by the landscapes, rituals and visual language of South Louisiana. Her pieces combine familiar Southern imagery with recurring symbols like fans, keyholes, candles, snakes and swamp lotus, creating work that feels both playful and layered with meaning. The self-taught artist’s work has been featured in Vogue and exhibited at institutions including the Ogden Museum of Southern Art.

Suite 325 | Katie Kut

New Orleans-based artist Katie Kut creates colorful, eclectic work inspired by the natural world and the relationship between people and plants. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, she has called New Orleans home since 2008 and often looks to the city’s fertile landscape, abundant sunlight and persistent growth as sources of inspiration. Her work brings that sense of nature, resilience and connection into the Artist Loft Suite.
